Why does the report card look different?
The move toward a standards-based report card will present parents with a document that will look different than our traditional one, which has depended on a single letter grade to report students’ progress. This year our new report card will identify what students should know and be able to do and will provide parents with more accurate information on progress towards standards.
The new progress report will:
Report where students are currently performing relative to standards consistently applied from teacher to teacher.
Pinpoint strengths and weaknesses in student understanding.
Better clarify expectations.
Provide a shared language for discussing students’ learning.
Help us to improve student performance over time rather than just label it.
